About the vaccine:
- Proven 80-90% efficacy in field
trials
- Only vaccine USDA licensed for footwarts.
- Approved for prevention and treatment
of footwarts in dairy cattle.
- Both treatment and prevention require
the complete 3 dose sequence to be effective.
- Initial doses are spaced 4 weeks apart.
- Single booster dose recommended every
4-6 months.
- Contains no antibiotics; there is no milk
withdrawal.
- Administered subcutaneously; minimizes
carcass damage.
- Must be used according to label instructions
to produce the best results.
- Cost-effective.
About the results:
- Controlled studies have repeatedly proven
that vaccinated animals are 6-7 times less likely to develop
footwarts than unvaccinated animals.
- Treatment: fastest results seen when used
with footwraps or sprays.
- Lesion healing is best seen a few weeks
following the third dose.
- Some lesions may leave scars after healing.
These scars may look like warts, but they are not painful and
do not cause lameness.
- Initial effects of the vaccine may depend
upon the overall stage of the disease in the herd.
